Your Mal's Instructions

This is all the info you'll need to fill out Mal's discount vouchers so they're tracked in your storeadmin.

1 ) This is your voucher mask - it's very important - Mal's vouchers won't work unless you have this in place.
2 - 5 ) This is info needed to fill in the fields at Mal's. You'll notice it has the amount of the GC, and the Min/Max values that you need to add. Although it says in the "Type" field to add A fixed value of you can change this and make it a % once in Mal's

Mals Setup

Log into your Mal's account and go to Discount Vounchers

1 ) Enter your voucher mask - again, this is very important or your gift certificates/vouchers won't work.
NOTE: Enter it exactly as it was listed in the "Your Mal's Instructions" step above #4 - CMMYYNNNN - these exact letters, make sure they're all caps.
2 ) Here you can see that I changed from a fixed value to a percent of - this field can be changed, just don't change the amounts unless you change them in your storeadmin as well.
3 ) You can also add an alias to make it easier for your customer to remember.
4 ) You have one extra voucher field that can be used for something like a free shipping voucher - or whatever you'd like.
5 ) Click UPDATE RECORD

That's it! You've set up your Gift Certificates

What Number Do I give My Customers?

You can give the alias ( if you set one up ) for a particular voucher to your customer - these are a bit easier to remember. In the set up above you would give "5PercentOff" as the voucher code to use for the customers you want to have 5% off at check out.

If, however, you want to create voucher number to give out to your customers you'd use the following instructions for creating them with our voucher mask of CMMYYNNNN:

C = Code Which is a number in the range 1 to 5 that corresponds with the discount line.( the red highlighted column in the image above ).
MMYY = The expiration date of the voucher. The year must be less than 68 (2068).
NNNN = Is the issue number. It must fall within the ranges you set-up below for that Type and Code.

If we want to create a voucher number to give our customer for say...code 2, which in the example image above is a fixed rate of $10 off the order you could issue the following voucher number:
205092000

This would translate as:
code 2 which is the fixed $10 off the order
it expires on May 30, 2009
and since this the first voucher number I've created to give out I started with 2000 since that's the minium issue number for this discount code.

Once you've issued voucher numbers ( or aliases ) to your customers don't change the voucher mask because that will in effect make all the vouchers issued up to that point invalid.

Vouchers are validated against the voucher mask. This defines what each number in a voucher means and should be composed of these same characters; a C, two Ms, two Ys and a number of Ns matching the maximum range you set-up below. A voucher mask can also contain noise characters which are ignored. So the most basic voucher mask is indeed CMMYYNNNN. However you can mix-up the characters if you like.
