MM storeadmin Coupons are links or words you can give someone, or a group of people to use. They click the link and the system keeps track of their purchases and gives the predefined amount off the total. These can also be used multiple times by multiple people. And you either send the person or group the link or the coupon word - to use the word you'd have to have the coupon include placed in your template so that a box appears ( usually in the side menu somewhere ) and they can put the word in there to get the discount - not at Mal's.

If you want to give various groups or individuals a discount when they order from your site you can set up Coupons. Coupons will give the customer a % off their total order. There are 2 ways to issue the coupon codes once you've set up a group:

1 . You can send them a link in an email or your newsletter that they would click on, that link has a special code in it that allows the system to track items they order and discounts the order by the amount you set up for the group.

2. You can print a paper coupon with the special coupon code that you assign for the group. They would then visit your site and enter that code into the coupon code form box and click "Go", from that point on the system recognizes them as a member of that group and tracks their order to give them the discount % off.
*WIth this one you will have to edit your template to put the system include into an area where you want the box to appear.

Click on Coupons

Click Add

(1) Enter a Group Name - can be any group or individual you want to give the discount to ( Church Members, PTA, Book Club Members, Aunt Bea...etc )

(2) Enter a coupon code - this is what they'll be entering into the coupon box on your site, if you supply the box option.

(3) Enter the discount amount you want the group or individual to have.

(4) Set an Expire Date.

Click Update

Once you click the Update button in the step above you'll be taken to this screen. If you plan to email the link to your discount customer(s) instead of giving them the Coupon Code # ( number 2 in the above step ) you will need to click the "Get Code" button

This is the link you can email to your discount customers - if you're using link instead of Coupon Code. If you choose to use the link code for your customers you would copy and paste this link into an email. Your customer would then click the link when they receive the email, which will take them to your site and the system will start tracking any purchases they make and give them the appropriate discount.

If you choose to send your customers a coupon with a code they can use instead of the link you'll need to put the include into your template so the form box, where they'll enter the code, will appear on your site. You'll edit your template in the template editor within your storeadmin. The include to use is %COUPONS% - just put that into the area ( on your template ) where you want the box to appear. In the above example I'm putting it under the search box.

This is what the coupon box will look like on your site. The customer has entered the coupon code for the Newsletter Subscribers that we had set up for this tutorial.

Once the customer enters the coupon code and hits the "Go" button - or clicks on the coupon code link (if you choose to send the link) - the system will recognize them as a member of the group you set up and knows to give them the discount assigned to that group. The discount will be a % off the total order.

That's it! You've learned how to set up coupons.
